Description
A vent pipe from the expansion tank to the radiator is Maserati component number 230562. Excess coolant from the engine is stored in the expansion tank. Before the coolant is put back into the engine, it is cooled by the radiator, a heat exchanger.
When the system is under pressure, the vent pipe permits extra coolant to move from the expansion tank to the radiator. This lessens the chance of the system overheating. When the coolant cools, air can also leave the system through the vent pipe.
The cooling system may overheat if the vent pipe is blocked or broken. This may cause significant harm to the engine.
